There are many reasons why Borobudur is considered one of the wonderful tourist sites of Indonesia. Which is why it has become a must for you to visit this massive temple. Do you want to know the reasons why? check out our five summary below!

1. Spectacular Borobudur Temple in itself

Borobudur is a huge temple sitting on a hill overlooking the mountains. It is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, made from more than 2 million stones.  It has an exquisite relief engraved with stone and its famous upside down bell statue. The sunrise and the sunset becomes a romantic moment, because the orange light striped sky is so attractive. There are additional charges for visiting around these times, but it’s worth it. Also, consider coming to visit during Vesak Day, at night. Usually here is held the release of lanterns into the night sky during Vesak and this is so beautiful.

  1. The equally impressive Prambanan Temple

Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in Indonesia, and Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple in the country. The World Heritage Site built during the ninth century has the ruins of 244 temples. Hinduism Mythology-Siva, Bishnun, Brahma, sitting in east yoga letter, was published in the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991. Visit the outdoor ruins. If you combine the Prambanan / Borobudur ticket, there is an entry discount.

3. Yogyakarta, and its charm.

Yogyakarta is a cultural center of Java.  It is also the city of the royal family: the Sultan lives in the historic Kraton (Palace) in the center of the town. This is where ancient traditions and art are saved. The new café, restaurant, and Gallery of Hippest de Java, will be the basis for a wide range of visitors to Borobudur and its surrounding other interesting places. Kraton must be on your list. If you are lucky, you can catch traditional dance performances and gamelan concerts.

  1. The magnificent beauty of Dieng Plateau

The locals refer to Dieng Plateau as the ‘Abode of the Gods’ and you can see why. The attractive landscape of vibrant lakes, lakes of color, sulfur fountains and earthquakes, it is reminiscent of Yellowstone National Park in the United States, but with the quaint old Hindu added beauty to the view.   This area is explored on foot.  The locals who live here consider this place as supernatural, full of myths and magic, and with no doubt, would bewitch you too.

5. Mysterious cave of Jomblang

Jomblang is one of the largest caves in Indonesia and exploring it is one of the most adventurous things you can do in this part of the country. Surrounded by a thick forest 60 meters deep, and you can get in using a rope with a trolley installed on the entrance lips.

The caves can only be visited as part of the tour, so the experienced cave instructor is in his hand to keep you safe. After going down to the cave and turning it to the meeting point, take a while to look back. A flow of light comes in through the entrance and creates an otherworldly scene that locals regard as “Heaven’s Light”. More deep into the cave, you will find a maze that connects the cave, beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, and an underground river.  Some tours offer the opportunity to tube along the clear river waters.
